Sometimes, it can be difficult to find a good park within the confines of a big city. Urban areas are, by their very nature, known as places where green areas and outdoor locations are hard to come by; that’s simply the nature of urban development. And yet, residents of Charlotte, North Carolina know that their city—the Queen City—is different. This city is known all over the nation for its preservation of greenery, for the fact that, even within some of its most congested urban areas, you van find some strikingly lovely, clean, peaceful, and natural parks. If you need proof, look no further than Latta Park, one of the Queen City’s top spots for outdoor recreation.

And why wouldn’t it be? Located near the historic Dilworth area, Latta Park takes up a sweeping 31 acres—no small amount of space, especially for a park located smack in the middle of a major city! And those 31 acres are not short on features and attractions, either; whether you’re up for a sporting event or simply want to take a leisurely stroll, Latta Park is an ideal location for singles, couples, and families alike.

Certainly, there is no shortage of athletic facilities here. Latta Park includes six tennis courts, a volleyball court, a basketball court, and two soccer fields—that’s a lot of terrain for playing games, and plenty of options to play the sport of your choice! And that’s not even the full extent of it; there are two large multi-purpose fields, perfect for tailoring to the game of your choice!

And if you’re not up for something so competitive, you can always unwind with one of the facility’s many walking trails. Some of these are leisurely and scenic; others are a bit more rigorous, meant to be "fitness trails" more than anything else. And let it also be mentioned that there is a terrific playground for kids; on top of that, there is a recreation center and a picnic shelter with restrooms and grills—perfect for parties and events! It’s no wonder citizens of the Queen City look to Latta Park as one of the top recreational spots in the city, and even that many out-of-town tourists include it on their Charlotte visiting itineraries. It’s one of the city’s most restful and relaxed locations, and a great place to go for some outdoor fun.
